the birds mural - final artworks
The concept of the bird murals for the 'green box' park was formulated in a workshop with residents. This resulted from a discussion with residents about the enormous variety of birds in the area. These artworks needed to complement the existing mural already there and to blend with the other sculptural and carved artworks to be installed.
The birds were separated into three different habitats, Sea, Swamp and Escarpment. Each part of the mural depicts the individual habitat, then the area is full with birds relevant to that habitat. The free-form top portion of each mural was cut to make the mural shape more organic and therefore more befitting its location in the park.
