The objective was to create a mural for the community of Gulargambone to be displayed in the shop windows of the main street in the town centre.

The idea for the mural project came from discussions between the then Shire Development Officer Emily Harrison and the Gulargambone Flying Ahead Committee. Funding was secured by Cath Fogarty of Outback Arts from the Regional Arts Fund (DCITA, Commonwealth Government). The Flying Ahead Committee is a community based organisation aiming to develop community opportunities for Gulargambone (including social and economic development).
